Connor Bedard made his highly anticipated homecoming last night, but the game didn't turn out a expected.

Last night, the Chicago Blackhawks took on the Vancouver Canucks, and the stage was set for Connor Bedard's first ever NHL game in his hometown of Vancouver, B.C.

The Chicago Blackhawks are currently undergoing a re-build, so I think it's safe to say that expectations weren't sky-high heading into last night's match up.

Despite the team's slumping offence, Blackhawks enthusiasts were still hoping for a level of offensive firepower from their superstar Connor Bedard.

The lone goal for the Blackhawks last night came from Ilya Mikheyev a 6:50 in the first period, but that was about it. Although the Blackhawks weren't terribly outshot 5-on-5, they can't seem to capitalize on any of their scoring chances.

Although the Hawks jumped to a quick 1-0 lead, the subtle mistakes started to creep back in their game, and the Vancouver Canucks ended up scoring 3 unanswered goals.

The Vancouver Canucks last goal was definitely the hardest one to swallow. The Blackhawks pulled their goaltender in a last ditch effort to make a comeback, but Connor Bedard made a costly neutral-zone turnover, and J.T Miller wasted no time -- making Bedard pay for the mistake.

Currently, Bedard has 3 goals in 18 regular season games. The infamous sophomore slump seems to be getting the best of the Hawks superstar, but his work ethic continues to impress.

Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks will look to breakout of their offensive woes when they take on the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
