According to sources, Minnesota Wild superstar Kirill Kaprizov is intrigued by the notion of potentially joining the Chicago Blackhawks.

A lot of conversation was stirring in the NHL when Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reported that Minnesota Wild star Kirill Kaprizov would be «intrigued» by the idea of signing with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2026.

Although this came as welcome news for Blackhawks enthusiasts, Lazerus made some important clarifications via social media.

Despite the Russian phenom not wanting out of Minnesota quite yet, the possibility still exists that a deal could get done when his contract expires.

According to Puckpedia, Kirill Kaprizov is signed to a 5 year, $45,000,000 contract with a cap hit of $9,000,000 per season. His contract was signed on September 21, 2021, and expires at the end of the 2025-26 season, when Kaprizov will be 29 years old.

It's no secret by now that the Chicago Blackhawks were blessed with drafting one of the most elite talents since Connor McDavid.

Building around Connor Bedard remains priority #1 for GM Kyle Davidson, and having a superstar like that on the team creates an enticing situation regarding attracting elite UFA's.

As it stands, Chicago Blackhawks enthusiasts are getting somewhat disgruntled with the rebuilding process, going as far as demanding for a head coaching change.

It's important to emphasize that rebuilds take time, but the Blackhawks currently have one of the most exciting AHL farm systems, including key assets that could be traded, such as Taylor Hall.

Although Kaprizov might not sign with the Blackhawks until 2026, the fact that Chicago remains "intriguing" to him is huge.
