The Chicago Blackhawks should think twice about firing Luke Richardson
The Chicago Blackhawks are currently riding a two game losing streak, and fans are calling management out, demanding head coach Luke Richardson to be fired.
The demand for a head coaching change intensified the past two outings, as the Blackhawks continue to struggle offensively, scoring just 2 goals in 6 periods of play.
The team's two biggest struggles seem to be a lack of intensity for a full 60 minutes, along with an unwillingness to fire the puck at the net - missing key opportunities to score goals.
Although fans seem to be frustrated at the lack of production from the team, the issue seems to be a systemic problem stemming from the team executives, rather than the head coach.
As it stands, GM Kyle Davidson has failed to bring in key players to play alongside Connor Bedard in the top 6. Taylor Hall if a former NHL MVP, but father time has caught up with him, and he's nowhere near the prolific scorer he once was.
A coaching change is the last thing this rebuilding team needs right now. If this team was close to making the playoffs like 2009, and there was a great available head coach to replace Richardson, then it makes sense to move on from Luke.
This team is still not anywhere near that level yet. Richardson has his flaws but they are not bad enough to question if he should be the man to lead the club through the losing stages of the rebuild.
-Blackhawk up
As easy is as it is to blame the Blackhawks woes on their head coach, it's not entirely his fault. As it stands, the Blackhawks just don't have the elements in their current roster to stay competitive in a tough Central Division.
Yes, Kyle Davison could fire Richardson. But in truth, it won't make a whole world of difference until Kyle Davidson brings in depth players to help bolster the team.
