The Chicago Blackhawks are kicking themselves for signing T.J Brodie
The Chicago Blackhawks made several splashes during the NHL offseason, but forward T.J Brodie has emerged as the most disappointment so far.
So far, the Chicago Blackhawks haven't had much look regarding their offseason acquisitions. Alec Martinez has been sidelined with a groin injury, meanwhile, Laurent Brossoit has yet to take the ice as he recovers from knee surgery.
With that being said, T.J Brodie has been put under the microscope, and fans seem to be growing increasingly weary of his underwhelming start.
Brodie has averaged just 15:14 per game so far this season, his average time on ice is the second-lowest so far on the team out of all defensemen who have regularly played this year. Through 13 games, Brodie has seen nine goals go by at even strength, putting him on pace for between 54 and 55 goals allowed while on the ice.
Further, he's been more than ineffective when the Hawks find themselves in the offensive zone, again at even strength. His on-ice shooting percentage sits at just 3.8 so far, and he's been out there for just three goals this season. By contrast, that number sat at 80 through 78 games in 2023-24.
-Blackhawk up
Although his play as of late hasn't exactly impressed the Hawks faithful -- there is a silver-lining. The Blackhawks aren't even 20 games into the season yet, so the sample size has been relatively small.
Additionally, theres a lot to consider when joining a new organization and adjusting to unfamiliar systems.
Did Kyle Davison potentially make a bad investment regarding T.J Brodie? Time will tell.
