The Chicago Blackhawks issue important update on goaltender Laurent Brossoit
Breaking news in Hawks Nation as head coach Luke Richardson has just issued an important update regarding goaltender Laurent Brossoit's health status.
Richardson provided disappointing news earlier today, stating there's now no return timeline from Brossoit as his recovery process is taking much longer than anticipated.
Initially, fans were hoping to have their newly acquired goaltender back in the lineup by at least October/Novemeber, but as it stands, Brossoit will now be out indefinitely with no end to his rehab in sight.
Brossoit had his right meniscus repaired at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the team announced during the offseason. The procedure was routine, but Brossoit continues to encounter major setbacks with his recovery.
While Brossoit and his $3.3 million annual salary cap hit remain sidelined, Arvid Soderblom has stepped up after enduring major struggles last season.
The Blackhawks lean heavily on Petr Mrazek in net, but Soderblom has shined when called upon. The Swedish backstop touts a .933 save percentage, 2.27 goals-against average, and 4.5 goals saved above average in four starts.
-On Tap Brossoit, who has a history of nagging injuries suffers yet another unfortunate setback in arguably the most crucial time of his career.
Brossoit was considered the top candidate for the starting goaltender position in Chicago, but will now continue to undergo further knee rehabilitation with no indication as to when he could be back. At this point, only time will tell.
Perhaps signing a goaltender who is so prone to knee injury was yet another bad mistake made by Kyle Davison.
