The Chicago Blackhawks took on the Vancouver Canucks for Connor Bedard's highly anticipated homecoming, but failed to get the win in another disappointing performance.

Although the team has been slumping offensively, last night's matchup against the Vancouver Canucks came with a certain degree of hype as superstar Connor Bedard played his first game as a pro in his hometown.

Yet again, the Chicago Blackhawks failed to generate any offensive firepower, losing by a score of 4-1.

After the game, Chicago Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson made himself available for his usual post game interview, emphasizing his overall dissatisfaction with the team's performance.

«Our quality scoring chances were up,» coach Luke Richardson said. «Just can't find the back of the net. Lack of drawing penalties, too. We can't seem to get enough chances there, which would probably help a little bit in production.»

«That's just a little bit of salt in the wound I think coming home for his first game here,» Richardson said. «But I saw the guys patting him on the back. It happens. He's trying to do the right thing and get it in deep and he just missed the puck. That just kind of compounds everything but we'll talk to him and support him.»

The Blackhawks have scored just 6 goals in the past 6 games, and the team is clearly facing a low point in their season.

Last night marked the 9th straight loss against the Vancouver Canucks, and the team continues to fall down the NHL standings, posting a 6-11-1 record.

The Chicago Blackhawks will look for a major bounce back when they take on the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
