Connor Bedard comforted by teammates after emotional loss
The Chicago Blackhawks are coming off an extremely disappointing loss to the Vancouver Canucks last night, and the results weighed heavily on superstar Connor Bedard.
The Chicago Blackhawks geared up for their most anticipated matchup of the 2024-25 season.
Fans from across the NHL tuned in to see Connor Bedard play his first pro game in his hometown, but unfortunately, the team failed to show up, losing the game by a score of 4-1.
After a late turnover by Connor Bedard, the Vancouver Canucks sealed the deal on an empty net goal, and Connor Bedard was extremely critical of himself for the mistake. According to Luke Richardson, the team rallied behind Bedard, offering him some much needed consolation for the untimely error.
«That's just a little bit of salt in the wound I think coming home for his first game here,» Richardson said. «But I saw the guys patting him on the back. It happens. He's trying to do the right thing and get it in deep and he just missed the puck. That just kind of compounds everything but we'll talk to him and support him.»
Although Bedard didn't get the result he was hoping for, it's still awesome to see the Blackhawks banding together in a great demonstration of camaraderie. The Chicago Blackhawks superstar will undoubtedly use this as fuel to breakout of his offensive slump.
Chicago Blackhawks Alex Vlassic also chimed in on the emotional loss during a post game interview:
«It's getting frustrating,» Alex Vlasic said. «It's pretty tiring to rely on one goal to win against a good team so we've got to figure out a way to turn it around. Last night marked the second straight game the Blackhawks were held to just one goal. Although things seem to be going wrong in every statistical category, the team has the opportunity to generate a much needed moral victory when they take on the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday.
