With that being said, Chicago Blackhawks superstar Connor Bedard seems to be somewhat down on himself, oppening up about his offensive struggles in a recent interview.
According to the Hockey News, when asked about his play, Bedard said he's "Definitely not playing great the last little bit, so I'll try to be better." He isn't scoring like he is capable of and isn't producing offensively at a point-per-game rate just yet. He has three goals and 13 points in 16 games.
Still, 13 points in 16 regular season games is nothing to scoff at. Although he may not be scoring goals at a blistering rate, he's still managing to contribute offensively with his dynamic play-making abilities.
When taking an in depth look into Bedard's Bedard's potential sophomore scoring slump, it all comes down to coaching and management failing to provide Connor Bedard with ideal linemates to generate sustained offensive production.
Over the course of 16 regular season games, Connor Bedard has endured a revolving door of depth players undergoing "tryouts" on the top line, yet none have found long lasting chemistry with him so far.
All in all, I personally think that Connor Bedard should take some pressure off of himself. Sure, he's the teams best player by a long shot, but he's still a sophomore, learning the ropes of the NHL.
