It's no secret by now that earlier last week, Chicago Blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson provided a grim update on goaltender Laurent Brossoit.
His reports indicated there's no return timeline from Brossoit as his recovery process is taking much longer than anticipated.
Now, the latest reports from Blackhawks insider Scott Powers hint at some improvements.
Yesterday, Laurent Brossoit was seen hitting the ice publicly during practice, which is massive news for the Chicago Blackhawks organization.
With Laurent Brossoit spotted on the ice testing his knee, speculation is growing about a highly anticipated return to the ice.
Although head coach Luke Richardson failed to provide a timeline, the fact that Brossoit is practicing is extremely encouraging.
Brossoit signed with Chicago on July 1st last offseason, a deal that pays him $3.3M a year for two years. However, Brossoit was was dealing with an injury at the time, and had to undergo knee surgery on August 27th.
Since his emergence in the NHL, Brossoit has gone on to become a quality backup goalie for the Edmonton Oilers, the Winnipeg Jets, and Vegas Golden Knights.
This season in Chicago, it was hoped he could be a tandem goalie with Petr Mrazek. As it stands, that's still the plan moving forward according to sources.
We'll see if Brossoit is able to get back to full health and back on the ice. Hopefully it's soon, for both the player and the team.
