Although the Chicago Blackhawks aren't generating a ton of offence this season, one area the team excels at is their situation between the pipes.

The Chicago Blackhawks currently have one of the most dynamic trio's in net regarding Arvid Söderblom, Laurent Brossoit, and Petr Mrazek.

It was recently announced that backup goaltender Laurent Brossoit will be sidelined for an indefinite period of time due to lack of progress in his rehabilitation, but head coach Luke Richardson still feels confident that he'll be returning at some point this season.

With that being said, Laurent Brossoit's extended rehabilitation to the lineup presents a difficult situation for Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson.

According to the Hockey News, despite Laurent Brossoit's injury, the newly acquired backup goaltender could be a valuable trade asset leading up to the NHL trade deadline to to help secure some depth scoring.

Let's say everything goes relatively well for Mrazek, Brossoit, and Soderblom this season. Mrazek plays well as the starter, Brossoit gets healthy and finishes out the season, and Soderblom does continue his strong play. Soderblom, if put through waivers next season, will be claimed by another team. That is too much of a risk and the Blackhawks would be losing a valuable trade asset if they went that route.

Given his age and potential, I think Brossoit should be the one to be dealt. Yes, he was great as the backup in Winnipeg last season with a 2.00 GAA and .927 SV%, but right as he was ready for an increased workload, this unfortunate injury situation halted that.

Arvid Söderblom has been a nice surprise for the Blackhawks this season. If he continues his strong performance between the pipes, he could emerge as the true backup, replacing Laurent Brossoit.

With that being said, the goaltender market is currently depleted, and when healthy, Brossoit could be enticing trade bait for Davidson moving forward.
