Video of Leon Draisaitl bugging Connor Bedard resurfaces on social media
A hilarious video has been resurfacing on X (formally known as twitter) of Leon Draisaitl giving Connor Bedard some good ol' fashion hockey chirps.
During the NHL's player media tour, Oilers superstar Leon Draisaitl was spotted chirping Chicago Blackhawks phenom Connor Bedard. "Chirping" is a huge part of the game of hockey, and on this occasion, Bedard got the full extent of Draisaitl's banter.
Connor: "Oh, my bad. Hey, did you do the stick handling one yet?"
Leon: "Don't worry about it"
In the NHL, there's an element of trash-talking designed to unnerve the opponent and get him thinking about something other than the game at hand. Sometimes it's all in good fun, but sometimes it can be brutal.
On this particular occasion, Draisaitl took it easy on young Bedard, and the two have seemingly developed a close connection off the ice.
Leon Draisaitl is coming into the this season after signing a $14 MM dollar contract extension with the Edmonton Oilers and has his eyes set on returning to the Stanley Cup Finals.
Bedard on the other hand, is part of a rebuilding Chicago Blackhawks team and will be looking to get the team back into post season contention in just his sophomore season.
Nonetheless, fans are eagerly awaiting the debut of the highly anticipated NHL regular season for some thrilling action.
The Chicago Blackhawks play host to the Edmonton Oilers January 11th, 2025 at United Center. It will be interesting to see if the "chirping" continues between Bedard and Draisaitl. Nonetheless, this type of off ice interaction between two modern day superstars was fun to see.
