According to Bleacher Report, Roenick received his plaque from Chris Chelios; Roenick started his comments referring to Chelios as his hero.
Jeremy Roenick is arguably one of the most decorated American-born hockey players ever to play the game.
Drafted 8th overall in the 1988 NHL draft, by the end of the 1988-89 season, Roenick was already in Chicago, where he had 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 20 games. He followed that with 26 goals and 66 points in 1989-90, finishing third in voting for the Calder Trophy as the NHL's top rookie.
He finished his long NHL career with 1,216 points (513 goals, 703 assists) in 1,363 regular-season games, and 122 points (53 goals, 69 assists) in 154 playoff games -- well deserving of Hall of Fame status.
Regardless of the ugly falling-out he has with the Chicago Blackhawks organization, he will always be remembered as one of the all-time greats that donned the Blackhawks jersey
