The Chicago Blackhawks looked incredibly sharp last night, beating the Minnesota Wild in overtime by a score of 2-1.

With that being said, the game showcased multiple strong performances from a few notable Hawks. Among the the standout performances, Jason Dickinson has quietly emerged as one of the Blackhawks best depth forwards.

Back in 2022, the Vancouver Canucks acquired defenceman Riley Stillman from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Jason Dickinson and a 2024 second round pick -- a move that has proven to be a bad decision by the Canucks.

During Dickinson's tenure with the Canucks, he struggled to gain any offensive traction, scoring just 11 points in 62 regular season games.

In a hasty move, Canucks GM Patrik Allvin decided to rid the organization of Dickinson, trading him away for essentially nothing in return.

Now, the reckless move by the Canucks has turned out to be a terrible decision, as Jason Dickinson is currently thriving in Hawks Nation -- finding his offensive pedigree that once seemed lost.

The 2023-24 campaign marked a breakthrough year for Dickinson, notching 20+ goals for the first time in his career. Last night, the former 1st round pick was also a key factor in the Hawks massive victory over the Minnesota Wild.

Dickinson is currently being praised for his stellar play in the defensive zone, he also scored his second goal of the season. That too was started with his incredible forechecking -- an aspect of his game head coach Luke Richardson considers a massive asset.

«And when the other team misses a puck or makes a mistake, they have the ability to score. There's always been interchangeable pieces there, but obviously Dickinson is the familiar face that's always there. He was much better in the faceoff circle as well.»
-Luke Richardson

I think it's pretty safe to say the Chicago faithful are thanking the Vancouver Canucks for trading Dickinson away for a bag of pucks.

If Dickinson continues his upward trend, it won't be long until he cements his role on the Blackhawks top 6.
