Breaking news in Hawks Nation as the team recently announced they have sent Isaak Phillips to the Rockford Ice Hogs in preparation for a big roster move.

Alec Martinez suited up for just 4 games until being sidelined with an injury (groin), but the latest reports suggest that the former Stanley Cup winning blue-liner will be ready to go for the Hawks road trip starting Thursday Night.

Martinez was seen skating with the squad during morning practice, hinting a potential return is on the table when the Blackhawks take on the Seattle Kraken Thursday night.

Martinez notched one assist in four games to begin the season before going on injury reserve with a right groin issue. Chicago blackhawks head coach Luke Richardson was hopeful Martinez would return in late October, but that never came to fruition.

In Martinez's stead, Phillips logged one goal and averaged 11:54 of ice time in three games. He now returns to Rockford, where he's played two games this season.

The Blackhawks hit the road Thursday when they visit the Kraken to open a two-game West Coast swing. Puck drop is at 9 p.m. CT and the game will air on Chicago Sports Network (CHSN).

The Hawks will look to keep their momentum going after an epic 2-1 overtime victory against the Minnesota wild on Sunday.

Having Alec Martinez back in the lineup should give the Blackhawks some added support in front of goaltender Petr Mrazec who's coming off his best performance of the year so far.
