The Chicago Blackhawks may have just found their new head coach
The Boston Bruins have recently parted ways with their head coach Jim Montgomery, but it may not be long until the former Jack Adams Award winner finds himself a new gig.
It's no secret at this point that the Chicago Blackhawks are having an abysmal start to the season.
Under current head coach Luke Richardson's command, the Blackhawks sit dead last in the NHL standings (32nd), and rank in the bottom of virtually every statistical category you can think of.
So far, Luke Richardson's coaching abilities aren't cutting it for the Blackhawks. Understandably, the Hawks are currently undergoing a systemic rebuild from top to bottom, but the team is supposed to be making progress -- but seem to be worse off than they were the year prior.
A year ago the Blackhawks were 6-10-3 (15 points) whereas this year the Hawks are 6-12-1 (13 points) through the first 19 games of the season and sit dead last in the league.
Could Jim Montgomery be the new head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks?A big need for the Blackhawks is someone who has good expertise in player development because with all of the prospects the Hawks have in their pipeline now and being added in the future, they need someone who can get players to take that next step to become full-time NHLers. They also need someone who can establish a winning culture.
To me, Montgomery checks all of the boxes you would want. He has experience and success at basically every level he has coached at with coaching and developing younger players like in College and players at the NHL level as well.

To keep it simple, Jim Montgomery is a proven leader and effective bench boss. Luke Richardson's questionable coaching tactics are causing players and fans to grow weary, and a drastic change must be made by Kyle Davidson.
If the Chicago Blackhawks season continues to spiral downwards, I don't see a world where Luke Richardson keeps his current role on the team.
