Although the Chicago Blackhawks are coming off an impressive 2-1 overtime victory against the Minnesota Wild, the team appears to be slumping offensively.

To sum up the Chicago Blackhawks season so far -- inconsistent is the word that comes to mind.

With that being said, the team cannot afford to go on any more extending losing streaks. With a 6-9-1 record, the Chicago Blackhawks may face an inevitable coaching change soon if they can't climb back up to a .500 record.

It's not the first time Chicago Blackhawks enthusiasts hear rumblings of a coaching change. Although Luke Richardson has emerged as somewhat of a fan favourite in Hawks Nation, his inability to establish any consistency in his lineups has become a major concern.

According to David Calabretta, Jay Woodcroft is one of the names that have emerged in the rumour mill.

"Aside from [Gerard] Gallant, other possibilities could be considered, such as former Edmonton Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft and perhaps even current Boston head coach Jim Montgomery, if the Bruins decide to let him go."
- David Calabretta

In parts of three seasons as a head coach, Woodcroft has an impressive 79-41-14 record. He's the former head coach of the Edmonton Oilers, and was able to find a good level of success during his 3 season tenure.

He was a popular leader in Edmonton, and arguably only needed to be fired because the Oilers goaltending was so poor to begin last year. However, once Knoblauch took over and turned things around quickly, it certainly didn't look too good on Woodcroft.

I think it's safe to say that Blackhawks Luke Richardson is now in the hot seat. As much as fans would like him to continue during the re-build, there's only so much inconsistency GM Kyle Davidson will put up with.
