The Chicago Blackhawks are taking on the Seattle Kraken tonight, and the team seems to be trending in the right direction -- especially defenceman Seth Jones.

Blackhawks defenceman Seth Jones is earning a monstrous $9.5M salary for the next 6 seasons. Now 29 years old, Jones hasn't been able to live up to the value of his contract since joining the team, and frequently gets picked apart in the defensive zone.

Although that seemed to be the case last season, the Chicago Blackhawks are seeing a new version of their former all-star defenseman.

Jones, who has two goals and 10 points in 16 games and logging close to 26 minutes per night, seems to be firing on all cylinders, and it's having a great impact on the team.

Jones was drafted 4th overall by the Nashville Predators back in 2013, and has gone on to play 797 career games since his debut in his age 18 season.

He's a towering and mobile right shot defender which is an asset in itself, and clearly, GM Kyle Davidson does believe in him.

Fortunately, the Blackhawks' rebuild should go quicker than anticipated because of Connor Bedard and finishing right at the bottom of the standings for a few seasons. Jones was able to power through that, even though he is a total -93 +/- with the Blackhawks, and play the way he has this season with some new life in the lineup.

I think it's fair to say that Seth Jones if finally living up to that $9.5 AAV per season deal.

Although Seth Jones has been rumoured to be on the trade block, GM Kyle Davison might have to re-consider if he keeps up this elite level of play.
