Chicago Blackhawks goaltender Laurent Brossoit is already off to a tough start with the Chicago Blackhawks, and he hasn't even suited up for a game yet.
Brossoit signed with Chicago on July 1st last offseason, a deal that pays him $3.3M a year for two years. However, Brossoit was was dealing with an injury at the time, and had to undergo knee surgery on August 27th.
The Blackhawks originally estimated Brossoit could return in 5-7 weeks, but it's now been roughly 12 weeks since the surgery -- yet, there may be a silver lining.
During an interview yesterday, head coach Luke Richardson updated Hawks enthusiasts on Laurent Brossoit's current health status.
His comment, "I don't think he's coming on the trip yet" suggests that bringing Brossoit along was considered, hinting he may be close to returning to the ice. Even the possibility joining the road trip is an encouraging sign.
A few days ago, Laurent Brossoit was seen hitting the ice publicly during practice, which is massive news for the Chicago Blackhawks organization.
With Laurent Brossoit spotted on the ice testing his knee, speculation is growing about a highly anticipated return to the ice.
With his increased practice time and the consideration of bringing him on the road-trip, it seems safe to say that Brossoit's return is on the horizon.
