Breaking news is Hawks nation as prominent hockey insider Eliotte Friemdan has announced the Chicago Blackhawks are actively pursuing a trade.

In a recent post on X (formally known as twitter) the hockey pundit has revealed that Chicago Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson is working the phones in order to bring in a much needed center-man.

It's no secret by now that the Chicago Blackhawks are failing miserably at generating any sort of consistent offensive production for their depth forwards.

The team is stuck in one of the worst offensive slumps in recent history, and Connor Bedard can no longer manage the burden of carrying this struggling team.

"The Blackhawks and the Predators have the advantage of more cap space/high picks to trade, and more willingness to do it at this time. But as the season continues and more cap strapped teams try to build space, competition will increase."
-Elliotte Friedman

Another solution would be to call up Frank Nazar for the Rockford IceHogs, but the Blackhawks don't want to rush his development quite yet.

If it comes, the best case scenario for Nazar to get called up and placed in the top-6 would be if someone gets injured. This isn't something to hope for, but it is likely that at one point someone is going to at least miss a handful of games and there will be a spot freed up. If Nazar continues this play, he will have forced the Blackhawks' hand and we'll see him sooner than later in the NHL in a full time role.

As it stands, the Chicago Blackhawks don't have many options regarding the center position.

Last game, Luke Richardson shuffled the lines again, pushing Bedard to the left wing, promoting Jason Dickinson to the 1st line center position.

Although the strategy seems to be working well for now, it's clear that Kyle Davidson will need to bring in some help to bolster the team's depth.

Regardless, as Friedman suggests, Kyle Davidson will have to pull the trigger sooner than later as finding a quality center-man will prove difficult in the months to come.
