As violent and gruesome as hockey can be, accidents often happen. Last night, the Chicago Black Hawks took on the Detroit Red Wings for an original 6 matchup.
Although the results didn't go Chicago's way, one play in particular has earned Connor Bedard some significant praise on social media.
With roughly 5 minutes left in the second period, Bedard challenged Seider for the puck along the boards, resulting in Bedard's stick to spear Red Wings blue-liner Moritz Seider right in the face.
Initially, Red Wings fans were up in arms, screaming for a penalty call against Connor Bedard. Although Seider clearly took a high stick to the face, the play was deemed a follow through, which doesn't classify as a 2 minute minor.
To make matters even sweeter, Connor Bedard took the time to check in with Seider, making sure it he was okay - clearly apologetic for the events that unfolded.
Despite Connor Bedard receiving some well earned kudos online, the game was far from a success for the Chicago Blackhawks, losing by a score of 4-1.
Yesterday marked the highly anticipated return of Alex DeBrincat and Patrick Kane, and the Blackhawks surely has higher hopes for a better outcome.
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to rally tonight as they take on a red hot Dallas Stars team.
