Are the Chicago Blackhawks targeting Trevor Zegras in a blockbuster trade?
The Chicago Blackhawks are currently stuck in the worst offensive slump in recent memory, and fans urging GM Kyle Davidson to do something about -- and fast.
So far, the Chicago Blackhawks are scoring in the bottom percentile in almost every statistical category, including their 36.7% expected-goals ratio during five-on-five play ranks 31st in the NHL, ahead of only the Sharks'.
With that being said, it's time for Kyle Davidson to explore the market for external help before all hope is lost. Hockey analysts have linked Anaheim Ducks superstar Trevor Zegras to the Blackhawks before, and Davidson must act quickly to bolster his stagnant offence.
Trevor Zegras is only 23 years old. He's shown glimpses of offensive brilliance in the past, but has struggled to get any sort of traction this season.
In 16 regular season game with the Anaheim Ducks, Zegras has notched just 2 goals and 2 assists, posting a -6 rating on the ice. NHL enthusiasts are beginning to wonder if a change in scenery might help him find his scoring prowess.
Trevor Zegras is a former NHL all-star, and playing alongside Connor Bedard could pose as an excellent 1-2 punch for the Chicago Blackhawks.
However, acquiring Zegras won't come cheap. He carries an average annual value of $5.75 million through the 2025-26 season. The Blackhawks would need to carefully consider the financial implications of such a move, especially with Bedard's impending payday looming.
Blackhawks general manager Kyle Davidson has publicly stated his willingness to leverage the team's significant draft capital to address roster needs.
-NHL Trade Rumor
Currently, Kyle Davidson has two 2025 first round picks in his back pocket, and has the ammunition to solidify this deal, but Davidson must act quickly to get this deal done.
As it stands, Trevor Zegras would be a great addition to the Chicago Blackhawks re-building efforts.
