I think it's fairly safe to say that most people have a strong connection to their original family home. In the case of Chicago Blackhawks superstar Connor Bedard, it's where his love for the game first started.
Connor Bedard grew up in North Vancouver, and it's where he learned the fundamental basics of the sport. His parents built him an impressive hockey setup in the back yard where he practiced the fundamentals of shooting and puck handling.
With that being said, Connor Bedard now lives in Chicago, living in his own apartment. With Connor now all on his own in the Windy City, there has been growing speculation that his parents, Melanie and Tom Bedard, are looking to downsize as they no longer have need for all the extra space.
In a recent interview, Connor Bedard emphasizes his deep connection to his family home, stating his reluctance towards his parents selling it.
Although his new found life in Chicago has taught him values of independence, the idea of his family home no longer being a part of his life is something he's personally struggling with.
Connor Bedard is signed to a 3 year, $2,850,000 contract with a cap hit of $950,000 per season. His contract was signed on July 17, 2023, and expires at the end of the 2025-26 season, when Bedard will be 20 years old.
If Connors parents can hold out from selling until he's 20, i'm sure he'll be more than willing to contribute financially to keep the house in the family. Who knows? He might purchase it from his mom and dad!
