Chicago Blackhawks drop their winter classic jersey
Breaking news in Hawks Nation as fanatics has just unveiled the team's jersey for the upcoming NHL Winter Classic.
The Chicago Blackhawks are looking ahead to the Winter Classic against the St. Louis Blue, and who doesn't love a new hockey jersey right?
The Hawks and their Central Division rivals face off outdoors at Wrigley Field on Dec. 31, in what should be a very cold, but very exciting game.
As per Sportnset, The Blackhawks' Winter Classic sweater features an old-school lace-neck collar and swaps white stripes for a cream colour evoking the Original Six era.
The front crest is accented with stars from the Chicago city flag, and the back numbers incorporate subtle pinstripes, a tribute to Chicago's beloved Cubs.
The Blackhawks will also be rocking the classic brown glove look.
The Blues on the other hand also pay tribute to their rich hockey history with the winter classic jerseys.
The font styling and numbers are inspired by an unworn prototype Blues uniform from 1966.
The jersey also includes a vintage-style «Blue Note» on the shoulder.
Fleur-de-lis designs line the inside back neck and hem loop labels to honour the city of St. Louis.
These jerseys have dropped just before the Christmas shopping frenzy, and you'll surely have to try to get yours before stores sell out.
All in all, the jerseys definitely have a classic appeal and look striking.
Although they have generated some mixed review, I think it's a great tribute to both Chicago's and St. Louis's team history. 5 stars for me!
The Chicago Blackhawks will look to get their season back on track before the Winter Classic.
Currently sitting at 6-12-1, the team has to get back into the win column in hopes to make this game a bit more attractive for fans.
